Magellan Team wins Excellence Through Innovation Award

Sept. 20, 2013

Linda Espeut, Karen Irving, Jayne Leake, Jaro Pristupa and Joe Wong, all staff members in the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, have been recognized with a 2013 Excellence Through Innovation Award from University of Toronto.

The five-member team is responsible for creating and maintaining Magellan, a web-based graphical user interface with underlying database. Magellan was developed to combine information from ROSI/NGSIS, ECE’s database of certified professional instructors, and faculty teaching loads. The program helps audit each student’s progress, track faculty’s professional certification, assists with undergraduate teaching assignments and generate offer letters to stipend instructors and teaching assistants, as well as teaching assignment letters to faculty as required by the workload policy.
