Biography
Chen Ying received her B.Eng. in Computer Science and Technology from Wuhan University in 2017 and her Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2023. After completing her Ph.D., she worked in industry on high-performance systems for computer networks and distributed training workloads. Since January 2025, she has been an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. Her teaching and educational work focuses on software and computing systems, with a broader interest in how engineering education and practice should evolve as technical tools become increasingly intelligent. She is particularly interested in course design that helps students build strong technical foundations while developing engineering judgment through decision-making, integration, verification, collaboration, and communication.
