Biography
Dr. Parinaz Naseri is an Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. She earned her Ph.D. (2023) from the University of Toronto, M.Sc. (2017) from the University of Alberta, and B.Sc. (2013) from the University of Tehran, all in Electrical Engineering. Her graduate research focused on inverse design of electromagnetic metasurfaces using machine learning, with applications in satellite communications. She has collaborated with organizations such as the European Space Agency and MDA Ltd., contributing to the design of K/Ka-band metasurfaces, reflectarrays, and polarization converters for space systems.
Before joining the University of Toronto, Dr. Naseri worked as Hardware Lead and System Integration Engineer at Novamera Inc., where she developed ground penetrating radar-based tools for sustainable mining, established hardware and antenna laboratories, and oversaw field integration and testing. She has published in leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Antennas & Propagation and Nature Scientific Reports, and presented her work at international conferences. Alongside her research, she has taught courses in electromagnetics, circuits, and hardware design, and is active in STEM outreach through the IEEE, mentoring students and organizing technical and educational events.
