Extra Courses Not Required for Degree

The policy concerning the suitability of courses for extra credit is designed to allow breadth of intellectual development while maintaining the integrity of the MASc program and minimizing time to degree.

  • Extra courses must be graduate level and related to the field of study.
  • Extra courses may NOT constitute a series of prerequisites for an entirely different program (such as introductory-level science courses intended as prerequisites for medical school).
  • Students who wish to take extra courses must demonstrate satisfactory progress in the MASc program according to the ECE Policy on Satisfactory Academic Performance and obtain supervisor approval.
