Engineering Research Day 2022: Building a Sustainable Future
Engineering Research Day Events
On Thursday, May 19, 2022 the Engineering Dean’s Office will host the second annual Engineering Research Day. This year’s theme of Building a Sustainable Future spotlights the unique role engineering professionals play in building a brighter future for all.
The event features a series of keynotes talks and panel discussions on various themes related to Engineering Sustainability. Please see the schedule and register for the event at-large below.
The program will feature:
- Interactive fireside chats with keynote speakers (hybrid)
- Panels on sustainability and resilience across different disciplines (hybrid)
- Student networking lunch (in-person only)
- Booths from U of T Engineering research centres and institutes (hybrid)
- Open networking reception (in-person only)
Engaging panel sessions will include:
- Putting the Engineering in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Investing
- Engineering Resilient Healthcare Systems: Lessons from the Pandemic
- Sustainable Talent: Educating the 21st Century Engineer
- Climate Positive & Sustainable Campus
Networking Lunch
As part of the day, the Faculty has organized a networking lunch with alumni and industry reps for graduate students and trainees only.
When: Thursday, May 19, 2022 (11:50 am – 1:10 pm)
Where: Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation & Entrepreneurship (5th-floor atrium)
This is an opportunity to connect with alumni at various stages of their careers in a casual and semi-structured environment, to gain insight into potential career paths and opportunities outside academia, and to build your network. Our guests are working in diverse areas such as:

- Entrepreneurship / Angel Investing
