Biography

Ofer Levi received his B.Sc. (Magna cum laude) in Applied Physics/Electro-Optics from the Jerusalem College of Technology, Israel in 1988, the M.Sc. degree (Magna cum laude) in Applied Physics and PhD degree in Physics, from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel in 1992 and 2000, respectively. He worked as a Physicist and Electro-optical Engineer in industry between 1988 and 2000, while completing his graduate studies. In 2000-2007, Dr. Levi worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow and a Research Associate at the Departments of Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering, Stanford University, CA. In 2007, he joined the Institute Biomedical Engineering and the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor, and was promoted to Associate Professor in July 2014. Dr. Levi’s research areas include biomedical imaging systems and optical bio-sensors based on semiconductor devices and nano-structures, and their application to bio-medical diagnostics, in vivo imaging, and study of bio-molecular interactions. Dr. Levi is a member of OSA, IEEE-Photonics, and SPIE.
