Professors Levente Diosady (ChemE), Andrew Goldenberg (MIE), Javad Mostaghimi (MIE), Chul Park (MIE), and Konstantinos Plataniotis (ECE), along with alumnus Larry Seeley (ChemE 6T6, MASc 6T8, PhD 7T2), have been honoured by the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) for their achievements in engineering. Levente Diosady was awarded the K.Y. Lo Medal “for significant engineering contributions at the international level”. Chul Park received the Julian C. Smith Medal “for achievement in the development of Canada”. Andrew Goldenberg, Javad Mostaghimi, Konstantinos Plataniotis, and Larry Seeley have been named EIC Fellows for their exceptional contributions to engineering in Canada.
Konstantinos Plataniotis is the Director of the University of Toronto’s Knowledge Media Design Institute and the founder and Inaugural Director of Research of the Identity, Privacy and Security Institute. Professor Plataniotis has published more than 300 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings, and has co-authored one book and contributed to twelve others. He is a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the recipient of the 2005 IEEE Canada Engineering Educator Award.
The honorees will be recognized at the EIC Awards Gala on February 27, 2010, at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa.
