Focus in Wireless Communications

Students who wish to focus their M.Eng. studies in Communications-Wireless Communications may use the following course plan, subject to the availability of courses:

  • General M.Eng. requirements apply
  • Three required courses
    • One course from ECE537H Random Processes or ECE1502H Information Theory
    • One course from ECE1520H Data Communications I or ECE1543H Mobile Communication Systems
    • One course from ECE1521H Statistical Communication Theory or ECE1515H Smart Antennas
  • Three elective courses
    • At least one course from ECE537H Random Processes, ECE1502H Information Theory, ECE1520H Data Communications, ECE1543H Mobile Communications Systems or ECE1521H Statistical Communication Theory, ECE1522H Data Communications II, ECE1531H Quantum Information Theory, ECE1523H Coded Modulation or ECE1530H Multi-user Detection
    • Maximum of two courses to be chosen from ECE or extra-ECE courses
  • Three optional courses, which may include three engineering management and leadership (APS1000-series) courses
  • Three-course project (ECE2500Y) in the field of Communications-Wireless Communications (subject to approval of supervisor) may be taken in lieu of three non-required courses
