Master of Engineering (M.Eng.)

The GENERAL REQUIREMENTS for the M.Eng. degree follow:

Students must enroll in one of eight approved fields and complete a concentration of courses in that field. The M.Eng. program will be comprised of nine graduate courses. The student may choose to complete an engineering project (ECE2500Y) with a value equivalent to three courses. Students choosing the project option will be required to complete a total of six courses in addition to the project. In order to pursue the project option, the student must secure a professor who will act as the supervisor throughout the project. The supervisor must hold a graduate faculty appointment in ECE. The M.Eng. program may be completed on a full-time or part-time basis.

  • Nine approved graduate courses
    • At least six of the courses must be technical courses
    • At least five of the courses must be ECE 1000-level courses
    • Maximum of two 500-level courses
    • Maximum of two approved courses from other engineering departments, computer science, sciences, and mathematics
    • At least three courses in the area of specialization
    • A project (ECE2500Y) with the value of three courses may be completed subject to securing a supervisor
    • Maximum of three engineering management and leadership courses drawn from the ELITE stream

Students may also obtain the M.Eng. degree with ELITE certification. To participate in this special opportunity, students will complete ten approved graduate courses, including four courses drawn from the ELITE stream. The general M.Eng. requirements apply. The ELITE Certificate will be issued upon the completion of all ten courses.
