Ontario Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology
Purpose
Value

The value of the scholarship is $15,000. The scholarship is paid in three equal instalments of $5000, at the beginning of each term, in September, January and May.

The scholarship is tenable for one year. The award is not automatically renewed. Students must apply annually.
Eligibility

Candian citizens and permanent residents of Canada are eligible for the scholarship in years one to four of a Doctoral program.

NEW THIS YEAR: Eligible students who apply for OGSST must also apply for OGS in the same competition.

Doctoral students beyond year four of program are not eligible for the scholarship.

Master’s students are not eligible for the scholarship.

Students who have defaulted on a Canada or Ontario Student Loan or a loan made under the Ontario Venture Capital Program, or have failed to make satisfactory repayment on an Ontario Study Grant overpayment are not eligible for the scholarship
Application Procedure

Applicants must submit an OGS application to the ECE Graduate Office by the deadline specified.

The deadline is October 14, 2011, for the 2012-13 competition.
Terms and Conditions of Award

The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time doctoral student in ECE at the University of Toronto.

The recipient must repay the award if he/she is in full-time attendance fewer than 14 weeks in any term, transfers to another graduate unit, withdraws from the Ph.D. program, or changes to part-time status.

The OGS may be held concurrently with other awards to a maximum value of $10,000 per year.

The OGSST may not be held concurrently with an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or an NSERC scholarship.

During the tenure of the OGS, the recipient may not exceed an average of 10 hours per week in research assistantships, teaching assistantships or other positions.
