Frequently Asked QuestionsPlease review the answers to our most frequently asked questions. 1. SGS provides a tool for assessment of international degree equivalency. Although the SGS minimum admission requirement is mid-B, ECE will consider only those applicants with outstanding first class academic records. Students with mid-B standing or lower are strongly discouraged from applying. 2. Proof of English facility is required for applicants who completed their degree outside Canada, the United States or the United Kingdom. English facility requirements must be satisfied by the time of application. ECE is unable to consider any applicant who does not satisfy at least the minimum admission requirement with respect to English facility. 3. The GRE is not required. However, applicants who have taken the GRE may enter their score on the ECE WEB SYSTEM. If an applicant chooses to enter a GRE score, he/she must provide the official report to verify the score. 4. When applying to a Master’s program, applicants must ensure that they select the appropriate Master's program. Please review the main distinctions between the M.A.Sc. and the M.Eng. prior to application. 5. All applicants must pay the SGS application fee. Under no circumstances will the fee be waived or refunded. The fee is payable on-line by credit card, or off-line by credit card, certified cheque or money order. Cheque or money order will be payable to the University of Toronto. 6. The application procedure is the same for new and continuing students. Students currently registered at the University of Toronto must pay the application fee. 7. Applicants should use only the ECE WEB SYSTEM to monitor the status of their application. The status will read "received" when the application is complete. Do not use the SGS web system to monitor application status. 8. Due to the volume of materials, the ECE Graduate Office is unable to confirm receipt of transcripts or other documents. ECE will notify applicants should any document be missing from their file. 9. Review of applications will commence January 8, 2012. Applicants will be notified immediately, via e-mail, concerning any change to the status of their application, such as an invitation for interview, offer of admission, or unsuccessful application. Applicants may be notified concerning a change to the status of their application any time after January 8. ECE will endeavour to inform all applicants concerning the outcome of their application by June 15, 2012. Return to Top |
